NEW ORLEANS – The Taylor University men's track and field program recently added academic awards from the USTFCCCA, highlighted by being named a 2019 USTFCCCA Scholar-Team.
TU was one of 30 men's programs from the NAIA to receive the award, after posting a collective grade-point average of 3.00 or better. Taylor finished the 2018-2019 year with a team mark of 3.36 for the third-best tally in the NAIA.
In addition to claiming Scholar-Team status once again, six Trojans received individual attention as USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes for posting cumulative GPA's of 3.25 and above with at least two full semesters completed, while also turning in an A or B standard result in a championship event during the 2018-2019 indoor or outdoor campaigns.
Caleb Anthony, Ben Byrd, Collen Cramer, Jonathan DeHaan, Daniel Gerber and Josh Roth were each named USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes for their work in the classroom and on the track.
The TU women's program was also recognized as a Scholar-Team and had eight student-athletes named as USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes.
The Taylor men's and women's track and field programs combined for three team finishes inside the Top-25 at NAIA Nationals, one Crossroads League Team Championship, three team finishes of first or second at the CL Championships and 20 NAIA All-American honors during the 2018-2019 indoor and outdoor seasons.
