Stayte Hits NAIA A Standard at Prestigious Drake Relays
DES MOINES, Iowa – Jared Stayte took the track against elite competition in the steeplechase and clocked a season-best time of 9:09.42, which easily cleared the NAIA A Standard.
Stayte was two-hundredths of a second from setting a personal best and his time is currently the fourth quickest in the NAIA this year. The senior is now set to try and repeat as an NAIA All-American in the Steeplechase at the NAIA National Championships.
Joel Mumaw competed in the 1,500-meters and won the first heat with a time of 3:59.24.
Nathan Burns also took the track for the Trojans in the 5,000-meters and finished with a time of 15:17.53. Thursday's race was the first in the event for Burns this season.
The Trojan men have a contingent competing on Friday, April 24th next at the Simpson Open in Iowa at 5:00 pm.
