Women's Track and Field Leads Crossroads League Championship

UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women's 4x800-meter relay team blitzed the field en route to a victory to highlight the opening day of the Crossroads League Championships for the Trojans.
TU's relay team of Rachel Blagg, Taylor Bluemel Margie Crosby, and Naomi Noyes posted a time of 9:27.04, over 18 seconds clear of Marian in second place.
Sophomore Plenseh-Tay Sakeuh also tallied a first place finish on Friday for Taylor with a long jump mark of 5.73 meters to score ten points for the Trojans. Senior Abigail Phillips added six points and Tori Gaesser tallied 3.5 points in the high jump. Phillips cleared a mark of 1.53 meters while Gaesser made a jump of 1.45 meters. Phillips also scored a fifth place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5.18 meters.
The Taylor duo of Hannah Schroder and Michelle Franch combined to score ten points for the Trojans with third and fifth place finishes, respectively, in the 10,000-meter run. Schroder clocked a time of 39:26.00 while Franch crossed the finish line in 39:49.37.
Sophomore Brianna Jordahl set a new TU record in the discus with a toss of 38.94 meters. Jordahl's mark was good enough for a fourth place finish. Jordahl also added a second place finish in the shot put with a career best throw of 12.01 meters.
Miriam Wood finished second in the triple jump for TU with a mark of 10.97 meters.
Lenna Klein added three points for Taylor in the pole vault with a sixth place finish at 3.10 meters.
The Taylor women's track and field team finished the opening day of the Crossroads League Championship with 67.5 points to take a six-point lead over second place Indiana Wesleyan. In all nine Trojans earned All-Crossroads League honors on Friday in a total of six events.
The Crossroads League Championships wrap up on Saturday with action beginning at 1:30 pm and continuing through the afternoon.
