Trojan Distance Runners Dominate at UIndy
INDIANAPOLIS – The Taylor women's track and field team competed for the first time in 2018 on Saturday as the Trojans participated in the Indianapolis Collegiate Challenge at the University of Indianapolis.
The Taylor distance runners stole the show as the Trojans posted victories in the mile, 1,000-meter, and 3,000-meter along with the 4x800-meter relay.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Rachel Blagg, Alex Berends,Taylor Bluemel, and Margie Crosby hit the B-standard with a winning time of 9:49.14.
Berends and Bragg also raced well in the 1,000-meters as the duo took the top two spots. Berends clocked a time of 3:05.45 while Bragg was close behind at 3:05.96.
The TU distance runners continued their dominance in the mile run with Bluemel taking first place followed closely by Mae Elizabeth Gimre in second place. Bluemel clocked a time of 5:18.82 while Gimre added a time of 5:19.71. Ariel Wentworth added an eighth place finish with a time of 5:45.28 while Erinne Lubienski posted a time of 5:53.10 for a tenth place finish.
Sarah Harden raced to a victory while hitting the A-standard in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:25.80, Livy Schroder added a seventh place finish with a time of 11:10.11. Amanda Dibley added an 11th place finish (11:33.99) while Maddie Weeden finished in 12th place at 11:36.28.
The Taylor distance runners continued their success in the 800-meters as Anna Souzis clocked a time of 2:28.44 to finish third while Crosby added a sixth place finish with a time of 2:40.61.
Junior Miriam Wood added a fourth place finish in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:01.22 and added a victory in the triple jump with a mark of 10.98 meters.
Plenseh-Tay Sakeuh posted a victory in the 60-meter hurdles with an NAIA A-standard time of 8.91 while Sarah Robinson added a seventh place finish with a time of 9.72.
Lenna Klein added a sixth place finish in the pole vault with a mark of 2.91 meters.
The Trojans will compete next at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 3
