Berends, Sakeuh Sweep Crossroads League Awards

AVON, Ohio – Taylor's Alex Berends and Plenseh-Tay Sakeuh swept the Crossroads League women's track and field weekly awards this week.
Berends was named the Crossroads League Track Athlete of the Week following a strong performance in the 3,000-meters at the University of Findlay over the weekend. Berends raced to a victory in the 3,000-meters with an NAIA A standard time of 10:20.41. The senior's time was more than 30 seconds faster than the next closest competitor and is the ninth fastest time record in the 3,000-meters in the NAIA this season. This is the 13th weekly Crossroads League honor for Berends during her TU career, including ten weekly awards in cross country and two in outdoor track and field.
Sakeuh was named the Crossroads League Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and the fourth time this season after posting a pair of NAIA A standards at the University of Findlay over the weekend. Sakeuh notched a victory in the long jump with an NAIA A standard mark of 5.75 meters and added a third-place showing in the 60-meter hurdles with an NAIA A standard time of 9.01.
Berends and Sakeuh will join several other TU athletes in representing the Trojans at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for March 1-3 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
