TU Track Reaches Two NAIA Standards in Atlanta
ATLANTA – The Taylor women's track and field team kicked off their outdoor season this weekend at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. After nine events, the Trojans have accumulated 30 team points.
The TU women landed a pair of NAIA 'B' standards on the day with Taylor Bluemel recording a time of 17:49.99 in the 5,000-meter run and Livy Schroder posting a time of 38:02 in the 10k. Schroder's run was good enough to land her a third-place finish overall while Bluemel's finish will be determined tomorrow after the final heats of the 5,000-meter race are run.
Taylor also picked up a first-place finish in the final event of the day, the women's hammer. Brianna Jordahl won the event with a mark of 47.34 meters.
Other scorers for Taylor were Giovanna Domene who took third in the steeplechase with a time of 11:42.87 and Plenseh-Tay Sakeuh who recorded a runner-up finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.17 meters.
Action at the Emory Invitational will resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
