NEW ORLEANS – The Taylor University women's track and field program was recently honored for its work in the classroom by being named a 2019 USTFCCCA Scholar-Team.
The Trojans were one of 44 women's programs from the NAIA to earn the accolade, after posting a collective team grade-point average of 3.00 or better. TU came in at a mark of 3.65, finishing with the second-highest mark in the nation.
Taylor also did well individually, with eight student-athletes garnering USTFCCCA Scholar-Athlete honors for posting cumulative GPA's of 3.25 and higher with at least two full semesters completed, while also turning in an A or B standard result in a championship event during the 2018-2019 indoor or outdoor campaigns.
Rachel Blagg, Taylor Bluemel, Abbey Brennan, Mae Elizabeth Gimre, Sarah Harden, Brianna Jordahl, Livy Schroder and Anna Souzis each were named USTFCCCA Scholar-Athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the track.
The TU men's squad was also recognized as a Scholar-Team and had six student-athletes haul in Scholar-Athlete attention from the USTFCCCA.
The Taylor men's and women's track and field programs combined for three team finishes inside the Top-25 at NAIA Nationals, one Crossroads League Team Championship, three team finishes of first or second at the CL Championships and 20 NAIA All-American honors during the 2018-2019 indoor and outdoor seasons.
