Taylor Women Perform Well at Huntington
HUNTINGTON, Ind. – A few members of the Taylor women's track and field squad competed in the Huntington Invitational on Thursday afternoon. It was a challenging day as strong winds blew against the TU athletes, however the ladies persevered and turned in successful performances.
Taylor's throwers had a solid day as three women set personal-bests in the hammer throw. Hallie Brenner claimed eighth place with a lifetime-best toss of 38.88-meters. Adelyn Schoenbeck finished in ninth, logging a career-best mark of 37.09-meters. Stephanie Wadsworth ended 19th with a throw of 32.48-meters and Chrissy Hickman launched a career-best throw of 27.77-meters to claim 25th place overall.
In the shot put, Wadsworth recorded a mark of 10.52-meters, finishing in ninth place. Schoenbeck added a ninth-place finish in the discus throw (29.74-meters), while Brenner clinched 11th place overall (28.82-meters).
Patience Sakeuh won the long jump by one-centimeter. The sophomore recorded a distance of 4.97-meters to finish in first place.
The Purple and Gold pole vaulting trio grabbed top-five finishes, led by freshman Betsy Underwood who placed third with a vault of 2.80-meters. Avery Birkla finished in fourth place, clearing 2.65-meters and Charis Siefert ended fifth with a mark of 2.50-meters.
The Trojans raced in only two events on the track. The 4x100-meter relay team posted a victory with a time of 49.16. The squad consisted of Ashley Hall, Eden Siples, Audrey Altum and Patience Sakeuh. Ashley Hall later went on to finish eighth in the 100-meter dash. Hall sprinted to a time of 12.92.
The Trojans will be back in action on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23 for the Little State Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
