Halterman Sets New TU Record at Liberty Invitational
LYNCHBURG, Va. – Jaynie Halterman represented Taylor at the Liberty Invitational on Friday evening as the lone Trojan in action, competing in the 3,000-meters against a field of NCAA Division I athletes.
Halterman excelled against the top-level, finishing fourth in her heat and 12th-of-24 overall in the 3,000-meter invite race. The sophomore started conservatively before moving up through the 15-lap race, moving gradually from eighth to fourth over the middle 1,000-meters of the event and holding steady for the top-five finish.
Halterman's final time of 9:26.38 broke her own school record from last season, is the second-best NAIA time of the season and once again hit the NAIA A-standard for automatic qualification to NAIA Nationals.
Halterman and the Trojans will return to action on February 7 at the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic.
