Garrido Climbs Leaderboard on Final Day of Roadrunner Invitational
DALTON, Ga. – Margarita Garrido moved from ninth to sixth on the individual leaderboard during Tuesday's final round of the Roadrunner Invitational, as the No. 19 Trojans finished seventh in the loaded 13-team field.
With the third round being cancelled, Tuesday's schedule featured just 18 holes and saw TU post a score of 324, up 12 strokes from Monday's opening round. The extra 12 shots slid Taylor down from fourth to seventh in the final standings.
Despite the slight drop, Taylor still managed to finish ahead of the No. 5, 13 and 14-ranked teams in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll. TU ended just five strokes back of No. 9 SCAD Atlanta and No. 18 Loyola for a tie for fifth, as the top 10 spots on the leaderboard consisted of teams ranked in the Top-25.
Garrido was the bright spot for TU on the individual leaderboard, repeating her Monday round of 76 to climb into sixth place with a 36-hole total of 152.
Shayne Lim, Eleanor Schuitema and Ellie Beavins gave Taylor four players inside the top 45, with Lim taking 23rd, Schuitema ending 32nd and Beavins finishing 45th.
No. 19 Taylor will continue its schedule on April 14 at the Kampen-Cosler Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana.
