Trojans Post Big Day at IWU Midwest Classic
MARION, Ind. – The Taylor women's track and field team continued its indoor campaign on Saturday, picking up five individual wins and hitting two qualifying marks at the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic.
Jaynie Halterman turned in the best performance of the day with a win in the 5,000-meters. The sophomore crossed in 16:17.32, which converted to 16:09.90 for the best time in the NAIA this season. The mark automatically qualified Halterman for NAIA Nationals in the event.
Kiana Siefert also had a standout afternoon with wins in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump. The senior provisionally qualified for NAIA Nationals with a time of 8.84 in the 60-hurdles, while posting a leap of 5.59 meters in the long jump.
Addie Draper scored a win in the 800-meters for the Trojans with a time of 2:20.89, while Malarie Pinwar secured TU's fifth win of the day with a time of 5:09.10 in the mile, with Catey Campbell and Kennedy Applegate following in third and fourth.
Three other Trojans had strong showings, as Sam Patterson took second in the 5,000-meters with a mark of 17:51.26, D'Arjha Davis finished third in the 200-meters with a time of 26.45 and Adeline Draper ended third in the 60-hurdles with a mark of 9.12
Taylor will have another meet on February 13 and 14, when it competes at the Heartland Invite at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
