Trojans Finish Third at CL Championships Behind Siefert and Patterson’s Individual Championships

MARION, Ind. – The Trojans finished third in the Crossroads League Championships as Kiana Siefert and Sam Patterson took home individual titles at Indiana Wesleyan on Friday.
Taylor finished with 116.5 points at the Crossroads League Championships, coming in third as multiple Trojans hit NAIA Standards for a solid showing.
Siefert stole the show for TU on Friday, picking up individual titles in the heptathlon and 100-meter hurdles while finishing second in triple jump. Siefert collected 36 points as an individual and ran as the anchor in the 4x100-meter relay team, who finished second for another eight points.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Nicole Braz Domene, D'Arjha Davis, Blessing Ogbeiwi and Siefert clocked a time of 47.20, hitting the NAIA B Standard and finished second in a competitive race.
Patterson was the other Trojan to take home an individual title on Friday, crossing the line first in the steeplechase with an impressive time of 11:23.73. Elizabeth Erwin also scored for the Trojans in the event with an eighth-place finish for the freshman.
Malarie Pinwar hit the NAIA B Standard in 1,500-meters finishing in 4:34.25, which was good enough for second place at the Crossroads League Championships.
Brooklyn Bixler and Claire Bailey joined Siefert in collecting points in the 100-meter hurdles, with finishes of fifth and sixth. Bailey also finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.47.
Davis continued her busy day racing in the finals of the 100 and 200-meters and coming away with top eight finishes in both to push TU up the scoreboard.
The final top five finishers for Taylor on Friday were Rebekah Firestone and Kennedy Applegate, who finished fourth and fifth in the 5,000-meters.
Taylor will send a collection of athletes to the Fighting Chance meet hosted by Saint Francis (Ill.) beginning Friday May 8th at noon before preparing for the NAIA National Championships.
