Marquez Earns Academic All-District Honors

UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor University women's tennis player Katherine Marquez was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II College Women's At-Large Team, as voted on and announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on May 12.
The award is designed to recognize student-athletes for outstanding achievements in the classroom, as well as on the court or field of play. In order to be eligible for the honor, an athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status academically and have participated in over half of the team's competitions as a key contributor during the current season.
Marquez is the only student-athlete from the Crossroads League to receive the honor from District II, which consists of NAIA student-athletes from Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana and Tennessee.
The Ibague, Columbia-native has played at the top flight in both singles and doubles for the past two years for the Trojans. Marquez went 9-4 at the No. 1 singles court in the 2015-2016 campaign.
Selected as an Academic All-District performer for the first time, Marquez holds a 3.95 cumulative GPA in finance and will now be placed on the national ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team, which will be announced on June 6.
TU now claims 15 CoSIDA Academic All-District awards during the 2015-2016 year and has already earned five CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
