2017-2018 Honors Page

The Trojans picked up plenty of awards and honors for the 2017-2018 year. Taylor earned 62 Crossroads League or Mid-States Football Association Player-of-the-Week honors, 4 NAIA National Player-of-the-Week honors, 131 All-League selections, 100 Academic All-MSFA and All-Crossroads League honors, 39 Academic All-District honors, 12 Academic All-America awards, 29 NAIA All-American honors, 98 NAIA Scholar-Athlete nods, six all-region awards, two Crossroads League Player-of-the-Year honors, one Crossroads League Newcomer-of-the-Year honor and won 31 individual Crossroads League Championships and one individual NAIA National Championships. TU also picked up five Crossroads League Coach-of-the-Year honors, with Quinn White receiving the honor for a fifth-straight year for Women's Cross Country, Ted Bowers claiming the honor in Women's Indoor Track and Field and Women's Outdoor Track and Field and Cam Andry taking a third-straight honor in Men's Golf and a second-straight honor for Women's Golf. Andry was also named the NAIA North Region Coach of the Year and Quinn White earned USTFCCA Great Lakes Region Assistant Coach-of-the-Year Honors for the second time in three years for his work with the TU women's track program.

Taylor's teams also found plenty of success finishing 15th in the Director's Cup Standings, with the women's cross country team securing a fifth-straight Crossroads League Championship, running its best time ever, reaching its highest ranking ever and posting its best finish ever at NAIA Nationals, the women's indoor track and field program winning the first-ever Crossroads League Championship, the men's and women's golf programs setting new 18 and 36-hole scoring records. Men's golf also won a third-straight Crossroads League Championship with a program-best 54-hole score and scored its best finish by taking seventh at NAIA Nationals with a program-record 72-hole score, women's golf claimed a second-straight Crossroads League Championship and women's outdoor track rolled to the Crossroad League Championship for TU's fifth team title of the year. The accomplishments continued with women's golf and women's cross country reaching the highest national rankings in their program history, women's basketball reaching its highest win total since 2004-2005, while setting program records for threes in a season, threes in a game and most CL victories in program history and baseball posting its best record in program history. TU also scored several wins over Top-25 foes, as men's basketball downed No. 8 Trinity International, No. 9 Indiana East, No. 14 Spring Arbor and No. 21 Spring Arbor, women's basketball upended No. 9 Dakota Wesleyan, No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 13 Olivet Nazarene, No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan, No. 17 Saint Francis, No. 18 Northwest Christian and NAIA Division I No. 5 Shawnee State, volleyball defeated No. 17 Jamestown and No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan, baseball took down No. 10 Keiser, No. 20 Campbellsville and No. 22 Indiana Tech and softball upended No. 12 Indiana Wesleyan and No. 23 Rio Grande.

TU also had 17 teams advance to compete beyond the regular season, with men's and women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, volleyball, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, baseball, softball and men's and women's outdoor track and field all advancing to the postseason. The Trojans had 10 teams qualify for the NAIA National Championships, with women's cross country and women's golf setting program records by finishing fifth, men's golf finishing seventh, women's basketball advancing to the Sweet 16, men's cross country scoring 17th, women's indoor track finishing 20th, men's outdoor track taking 20th, men's indoor track taking 21st, women's outdoor track ending 21st and baseball winning its fifth-ever Opening Round game.

Taylor had 13 teams gain attention in the NAIA Top-25 Poll, with women's soccer, men's cross country, women's cross country, women's golf, men's golf, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's indoor track, men's indoor track, women's outdoor track and men's outdoor track all cracking the Top-25. The TU softball and baseball teams also received votes in the Top-25 Poll.

Taylor coaches reached milestone victories as well, with women's soccer head coach Scott Stan achieving his 100th victory at TU on September 30, men's cross country head coach Lance Vanderberg registering his 400th win on November 4 and women's cross country head coach Quinn White reaching his 600th victory on October 6. Ron Korfmacher also achieved a milestone, reaching his 49th victory to become TU's all-time winningest football coach. Kyle Gould also became the all-time wins leader in the dugout for TU baseball with his 445th win on February 27.

The academic accolades rolled in once again as well, with Taylor leading all NAIA institutions in CoSIDA Academic All-District awards for volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, baseball, softball, men's track and cross country and women's track and cross country, while leading its district in football.

For the sixth-straight year, TU had all 18 of its varsity athletics programs heralded as NAIA Scholar-Teams for posting collective grade-point averages of 3.0 and better. Taylor was one of two institutions from the NAIA that offer at least 18 sports to place each on the list and was one of three schools to have at least 18 teams post a GPA of 3.19 and higher.
